After leaving your hotel, first visit to the Blue Mosque with its magnificent
series of domes and semi-domes, its six slender minarets. Next stop is
the Hippodrome and Obelisks. The ancient Hippodrome, the scene of chariot
races and the center of Byzantine civil life. The next stop, Haghia Sophia
Museum was built at the command of Emperor Justinian as a basilica. Finally
we visit the Grand Bazaar which was built at the command of Fatih Mehmet
shortly after the Conquest. It contains 4399 shops, 2195 workshops.
After lunch continue on our journey to the Topkapi Palace, which remained
the seat of the Ottoman Sultans until 1868. (Treasury and Harem are not
included in this program.) Then we visit the Suleymaniye Mosque, one of
the greatest works of its architect, Sinan.
